    Sandia Peak     
The Sandia Peak Tramway is the longest clear and unsupported span in North America, third longest in the world.  The 2.7 mile climb up the west side of the Sandia Mountains is accomplished in ten minutes by two 60-passenger cars. SANDIA PEAK SKI AREA ALBUQUERQUE NEW MEXICO  Skiers and sightseers take their ride on the 7,500 foot long double chairlift.  The lift takes them to an altitude of 10,378 feet, on the East Slope of the Sandia Mountains.   Sandia Peak Ski Area.  Albuquerque, New Mexico.   Enroute from the Tram to the Summit House and on to the slopes, anxious skiers make their way. 
 Sangre de Cristo Mountains 
       
    Sking in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Most wither sports enthusiasts are surprised to learn that there is good skiing in Sunny New Mexico.  The high peaks of the Sangre de Christo range afforst good practice runs of varying degree; while open slopes, far reaching views, marvelous sunshine and dry air help to make this region ideal for winter sports.  Good skiing is available at the end of a few minutes drive from Fred Harvey's La Fonda Hotel in Santa FE.  The higher country, rapidly being developed, afforde an excellent terrain for cross-country skiing.  Skiing is fast becoming popular at other points in New Mexico and Arizona.

    Sierra Blanca Ski Resort    
       
    Sierra Blanca Gondola Tram - Sierra Blanca Ski Resort - Access to the ski resort is just 16 miles from Ruidoso.  The road is paved all the way to the base of the lifts.  Smowmaking machines guarantee Thanksgiving opening and good early season skiing.  Average annual snowfall 80-120 inches.
