The Sandia Peak Tramway is the
longest clear and unsupported span in North America, third longest in the
world. The 2.7 mile climb up the west side of the Sandia Mountains is
accomplished in ten minutes by two 60-passenger cars. |

Peak's longest is two and one half miles with a vertical drop of 1700. |

Skiers and sightseers take their ride on the 7,500 foot long double
chairlift. The lift takes them to an altitude of 10,378 feet, on the East
Slope of the Sandia Mountains. |

The high peaks of the Sangre de Christo range afforst good practice runs of
varying degree; while open slopes, far reaching views, marvelous sunshine
and dry air help to make this region ideal for winter sports. Good
skiing is available at the end of a few minutes drive from Fred Harvey's La
Fonda Hotel in Santa FE. The higher country, rapidly being developed,
afforde an excellent terrain for cross-country skiing. Skiing is fast
